Comparing Top Alternatives Side by Side
Ninestars 13-Gallon Motion Sensor Trash Can
This Ninestars model shares the 13-gallon capacity and silver stainless steel finish of the original. It also uses motion sensor technology for touchless opening. The primary difference is physical dimensions. This unit measures 12.7 inches wide and 14.2 inches deep, making it slightly wider but shallower than the original. The height is nearly identical at 24.1 inches. It weighs 7.91 pounds, which is marginally heavier. You get the same odor control features and smart sensor functionality. If you need a wider footprint to accommodate larger trash bags or bins, this version offers that extra width while maintaining the same core performance and aesthetic.
iTouchless 13 Gal Touchless Trash Can
The iTouchless option provides the same 13-gallon capacity and touchless motion sensor operation. It targets compact kitchens just like the original. However, the build quality differs significantly. This model weighs 15.6 pounds, nearly double the weight of the Ninestars original. It lacks the specific UV and ozone purification system mentioned in the original’s features. Instead, it relies on standard odor control mechanisms. The model number CDZT1302SS-T indicates a different internal design. You choose this if you prioritize a heavier, more robust build over advanced odor elimination tech. It is a reliable, straightforward touchless bin without the extra smart features found in the Nova series.
Goplus 19 Gallon 4-Compartment Motion Sensor Trash Can
This Goplus unit differs substantially by offering 19 gallons of capacity instead of 13. It features a four-compartment layout for sorting waste, which the original does not. The dimensions are larger, measuring 13 inches wide, 16.5 inches deep, and 33 inches tall. It includes a soft-close lid mechanism in addition to the motion sensor. You give up the compact footprint of the original for significant sorting capability. This is ideal if you need to separate recyclables, compost, and trash in one unit. The motion sensor still provides touchless convenience. Choose this if your kitchen generates high volumes of waste requiring strict separation protocols.
Kraus WasteGuard 15.8 Gal Dual Step Can
The Kraus WasteGuard replaces the motion sensor with a dual step pedal mechanism. It offers 15.8 gallons of dual-compartment capacity. The dimensions are larger at 14.8 inches wide, 20.8 inches deep, and 26.1 inches tall. It weighs 19.2 pounds. You lose the touchless convenience of the original but gain manual control and dedicated space for trash and recyclables. The spot-free stainless steel finish resists fingerprints well. This option suits users who prefer mechanical reliability over electronic sensors. It is best for households that want to separate waste streams without relying on battery-powered motion detection or complex odor control systems.
HCB 13-Gallon Automatic Motion-Sensor Trash Can
The HCB model matches the 13-gallon capacity and stainless steel construction of the original. It uses an automatic motion sensor for touchless operation. The dimensions are 11 inches wide, 16 inches deep, and 23 inches tall, making it slightly shorter and narrower than the Ninestars original. It lacks the specific odor control features like UV and ozone purification. This is a simpler, more durable option for shared spaces like offices or bathrooms. You trade advanced hygiene tech for a straightforward, reliable bin. It is ideal if you need a basic touchless solution without the extra features or higher complexity of the Nova series.
Fabsmurd 13.2-Gallon Stainless Steel Step Trash Can
The Fabsmurd unit offers 13.2 gallons of capacity, nearly identical to the original. It uses a step pedal instead of a motion sensor. The dimensions are 17 inches long, 11.8 inches wide, and 22 inches high. It is constructed from thick-gauge stainless steel with a fingerprint-resistant finish. You give up the touchless convenience for quiet, manual operation. The soft-close lid reduces noise, which is beneficial in open-plan kitchens. This option suits buyers who prefer mechanical durability over electronic sensors. It is best for high-traffic areas where fingerprints are a concern and you want a sturdy, quiet bin without the need for batteries or sensors.
