Specs Show Key Differences
Capacity
The iTouchless model offers a 24-gallon capacity, which equals 91 liters. This larger volume suits busy kitchens or offices that generate more waste. The SIMPLI-MAGIC unit provides 60 liters, or 16 gallons. It splits this total into two 30-liter compartments for waste and recycling. While the iTouchless holds more single-item volume, the SIMPLI-MAGIC design helps you sort materials immediately. If you need to handle bulky items or large volumes without frequent bag changes, the iTouchless capacity is superior. For those who prioritize recycling separation over total volume, the dual-compartment setup of the SIMPLI-MAGIC is the practical choice.
Opening Mechanism
You open the SIMPLI-MAGIC trash can using a stainless-steel foot pedal. This mechanical method requires physical pressure on the pedal to lift the lid. The iTouchless unit uses a motion sensor technology that opens instantly when you wave your hand. The sensor approach is fully touchless, which adds a layer of hygiene for hands covered in food residue. The foot pedal is reliable and does not depend on batteries or power adapters. If you prefer a mechanical, battery-free operation, the SIMPLI-MAGIC pedal is robust. If you want the most hygienic, hands-free experience possible, the iTouchless sensor is the better option.
Dimensions
The SIMPLI-MAGIC trash can measures 19 inches in width, 12 inches in length, and 26 inches in height. It weighs 15 pounds. The iTouchless model is narrower at 12.4 inches wide, with a length of 17.5 inches and a height of 33 inches. It weighs only 9.8 pounds. The iTouchless oval shape is designed to fit flush against walls, saving floor space in tight corners. The SIMPLI-MAGIC is wider but shorter, making it easier to access if you are shorter or have limited vertical clearance. The iTouchless is lighter and slimmer, while the SIMPLI-MAGIC is sturdier and shorter.
Power Source
The SIMPLI-MAGIC foot pedal operates mechanically and does not require electricity or batteries. This means it will always work, even during a power outage. The iTouchless trash can requires power to operate its sensor lid. It comes with an AC adapter for plug-in use and can also run on four D batteries as a backup. This dual power option ensures the lid opens even if the cord is unplugged. However, you must manage the battery replacement or keep it plugged in. For zero-maintenance operation, the SIMPLI-MAGIC is simpler. For automated convenience, the iTouchless power system is necessary.
Features
Both units include built-in filters for odor control. The iTouchless uses an AbsorbX filter and includes smart alerts to remind you when to replace it. The SIMPLI-MAGIC has a standard built-in filter for odor management. Additionally, the SIMPLI-MAGIC features a slow-close lid and a lid lock that keeps the container open for longer tasks. The iTouchless lacks a mechanical slow-close feature in its specs but emphasizes its smudge-proof finish and ADA compliance. The SIMPLI-MAGIC offers more mechanical controls like the lock and slow-close. The iTouchless offers more technological features like alerts and sensor speed.
Which trash can fits your space?
Users needing separate recycling and waste bins
The SIMPLI-MAGIC model features a dual-compartment design with two 30-liter sections. This allows you to sort waste and recycling simultaneously without sacrificing total capacity. The foot-pedal mechanism keeps hands clean, while the soft-close lid reduces noise. Its 16-gallon total volume is split evenly for organized disposal.
Those prioritizing maximum single-bin capacity
The iTouchless unit offers a generous 24-gallon capacity, holding up to 91 liters in a single compartment. This extra volume reduces the frequency of bag changes, making it ideal for busy households or offices. The motion sensor opens the lid instantly, and the oval shape fits flush against walls for efficient space usage.
Buyers wanting flexible power options
The iTouchless trash can provides dual power sources, including an included AC adapter and a battery option for four D cells. This flexibility ensures reliable operation even during power outages. The stainless steel finish resists fingerprints, and the built-in odor filter helps maintain a fresh environment in any room.
